Manganui
First we climbed the Maunganui Mount from which we enjoy the view of the Tauranga Harbour and the Pacific Ocean. Then we walked on the beach until a (mini?) peninsula. It was cold so we decided to go straight find a backpacker’s in Tauranga. We looked for a place to eat and visited the town as well. Finally we ate in a Turkish restaurant, good but not enough for our ogre’s appetite. I still felt sick so I went to bed early.
On Sunday we knew that there was a jazz festival somewhere in the area, it turned out that it was in Whangamata which is around 60 km to the north of Tauranga. We took a break to look the ruins of an old mine exploitation and little falls. We reached Whangamata 2 hours before the beginning of the live so we walked in town and on the beach. Then we watched at the concert, it was nice, some covers of famous songs such as “Sweet home Chicago” and also some of them own songs.

On the way back to Hamilton we stopped at a 1km long tunnel dug 100 years ago.

OK, désolé pour ma longue absence. En fait, j'avais un peu négligé notre blog, pas de grande excuse juste par pur "faineantisme". Ca fait presqu'un mois que je n'ai rien écrit. On est parti à Bay of Plenty ce weekend là. Il faisait beau mais froid. On a monté le mont Manganui et la haut, une superbe vue de toute la ville de Manganui et Tauranga.
Whangamata
Alors, pendant la descente on a rencontré un vieux homme (on avait l'impression qu'il était sdf :p) qui nous "racontait le futur". Il disait comme quoi le pape Benoit va bientot morrir et comme quoi il sera remplacé pars un autre de Belgique. Obama sera assainé dans pas longtemps et remplacé par un autre politicien(je ne retiens pas son nom), la bataille en Irak qui se termine, et que Mikhail Gorbatchev sera assasiné. Il y a encore plusieurs details que je me souviens pas, mais apparemment tous ces incidents provoquera surement une grande guerre dans les pays à l'hemisphère nord! Bon bref...
Le soir, on a décidé de manger dans un resto pour qui servait des plats turques. J'ai oublié le nom bizarre de mon plat mais ça rassemblait peu la lasagna italienne. On a passé la nuit à Tauranga.
Le lendemain nous avons fait un parcours historique d'un ancien mine à Waikino. Ensuite nous sommes parti à Whangamata pour le festival de jazz. Les artistes dans la rue et on a même assisté à un concert live. Sympa! Le retour vers la fin de la journée à Hamilton.
