Last week we took advantage of the fact while waiting for parts to continue our project to reclaim our previous failed journey. So we went back to the west of Waitomo to visit the Mangapohue natural bridge and Piripiri Caves. Actually, a long time ago the valley was flooded by water so we’ve discovered the remainings of this era.
Both of the sites were beautiful but I must say that Piripiri Caves are not equipped with stairs or whatsoever! Thus we lighted our path with our mobile phone, the stones were very slippery and we got out of the caves dirty. We’ve had the chance to see TWO glow worms, nice performance!
Then we left Waitomo to go to Kawhia for the second time. It was raining on the way there but when we arrived the weather was nice. There were 4 guys on the beach and the steam coming out of the sand. I dug out a bath in a warm area of the beach. After a good swim in the Pacific Ocean (12°C) we dipped in our natural jacuzzi (40°C). So sweet; and we spend the entire afternoon chilling on the beach until the tide came in and forced us leave.
